The Platform for Janism, Critique of Power, and Free Access to Nima Shahsavari’s Works
In the midst of a vast and endless desert, a sprawling crowd of bewildered, stunned human beings wandered in search of the moon. Someone shouted: “I have found the moon!” Innumerable souls rushed to follow the call, only to discover beneath a tattered cloak the malicious face of a villain whom they hailed as the “Moon.”
Have you ever truly seen the moon? Whoever dared to utter this question was blinded, their eyes scooped out and filled with the dark cloth of the vengeful cleric, so that they might believe they had witnessed the moon. For long years, these people have seen nothing; there is no vantage point left for vision. From those distant spheres where only absolute commands reigned, the order came to remain blind—and in the end, no one ever saw the real moon. The moon remained thousands of years distant from this populace, who spend their days and nights wandering, searching, pounding, and crawling in pursuit of an illusion, finding nothing.
Before this disgraced face claimed the heavens, another moon filled the sky—one obsessed with the madness of lunar grandeur. It harvested whatever others had planted, claiming the yield as its own, severing heads and usurping sovereignty. Crowned, it sat opposite the sky, marking the genesis of collective blindness. And now, the crowd hung desperately from the cloak of the black-clad man, showering his hands and feet with kisses, inflating his ego, elevating him until all came to believe that he must be worshipped.
Before that tattered cloak cast the sun into total eclipse, the crowd slithered within the long shadow of a crown, believing it had stitched the sky to the earth. In those distant days, silence was the ritual of worship, and the splendor of the crown forced all eyes to the dirt lest anyone gaze upon the cold heights of power. The populace was a body of subjects who traded their Living Presence (Jan) for slave-like security beneath the golden gleam of an iron moon. Yet there, in the womb of that graveyard stability, the seed of a immense malice was planted—a malice that later, searching for another moon, clung to a cloak reeking of vengeance and dogmatic chambers.
Every time a visionary attempted to point toward the true moon, they were branded and destroyed. The capacity to perceive the genuine moon did not exist, and so this manufactured moon became the sole measure of reality for the crowd.
The new moon summoned from the depths of graves is crafted more from the dust of deception than from light. Its flatterers are cosmeticians of corpses; with the paint of slogans and the varnish of imaginary statistics, they drape the robe of salvation over the decaying body of tyranny.
Those who today beat the drums of autocracy under the guise of constitutionalism have slaughtered the truth of law at the altar of ancestral inheritance. Constitutionalism was meant to be a chain around the neck of power, not a cloak upon the shoulders of a master.
At the dark margins of this desert stand spectral figures who have severed their vital ties from both false moons. They neither cling to the cloak of malice nor exhume graves in yearning for the decaying bones of a crown. These “Moonless Ones” are the eternal outcasts of both camps, for their only crime is refusing to accept a master. In cold silence, they gaze upon a sky whose true moon has not yet been born.
Their agony is the agony of sight in a city of the blind: if you refuse to bow before the bearded moon, you are torn apart by the blade of the crowned; if you reject the scent of the crown, you are swallowed by the jaws of the black moon. They are the authentic loners of history.
The crowd, trapped in the soil, continuously seeks a fresh master, calling forth a moon from the depths of a bitter grave. These people remember the crown and seek refuge in tombs. A demagogue mounts the shoulders of the crowd, shouting: “Do you smell the familiar scent of the crown?” The crowd sniffs, touches, and surges forward, hailing whoever smells of the crown as their new moon. They seek freedom not in liberation, but in discovering a newer master—one who strikes their heads with a velvet glove instead of a leather whip.
I shouted from the hilltop: “O living beings! The true moon is here, look!” They rushed toward me with cries, bound me to a post, and forced me to watch as each faction paraded its fake moon. The bearded ones praised their idol while chanting royalist slogans, and the crowned ones handed the yoke of servitude back to their master. The false moon watched it all.
As the first blade grazed my throat, I read from the tongue of the shouting moon:
“Your lives and ideals are gifts offered by the blind, who donate surgical blades to their own butchers. In the curve of this blade against my neck, I see that your eyes are incapable of perceiving the moon; you are accustomed only to worshipping the empty voids of the sky. If you cannot behold the sun, at least cage this newly emergent moon in iron. Bind the hands and feet of this newly carved idol not with kisses, but with the chains of law. Do not allow this moon to become eternal; reduce it to a cycle of seasons, a passerby who shines upon your desert for a few brief days and then fades into decay.”
Yet the crowd continues its chant, even as their blades cut through throats: “Unite with our moon!”
Do not threaten us with the weight of the multitude (majority). Your collective vote is like a spring breeze, whereas we have stood firm in the midst of raging storms against the tide of human folly. They do not comprehend that I have seen the true moon; my eyes have been open for millennia. I shall remain your vision, even if you sever my head. That severed head is the future clarity of you all—a future where, through my eyes, you will see a world where the only true moon is absolute freedom.
